US military activities in the Pacific

The US has increased its military presence and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region in recent years, especially in the context of China’s growing aggression. In October 2023, a senior Pentagon official said that the US is focused on preventing conflict in the Indo-Pacific region, while China is increasing its military power and engaging in provocative activities.

The US has established a new network of security structures in the Indo-Pacific region by uniting its formal alliance partners. It includes countries like Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia and Thailand. The US has clarified its stance in the Indo-Pacific region, saying that its goal is to “maintain America’s strategic dominance in the Indo-Pacific region.”

The US has resolved to increase its military strength in the Indo-Pacific region to counter China’s growing aggression. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the US will expand military and economic ties with its partners in Asia.

The US has strengthened its military presence in the Western Pacific, with the possibility of deploying five aircraft carrier ships. This move reflects America’s activism against China and North Korea.

On the 20th anniversary of QUAD cooperation, the Quad foreign ministers issued a joint statement, expressing commitment to further the positive contribution of the Quad in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific region.

Through these activities, the US is working closely with its allies to ensure peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
