In recent years, Bihar’s Nawada has been the epicenter of several significant scams and fraudulent activities:

“All India Pregnant Job Service” scam

In late 2023, authorities busted a fraudulent scheme operating under the guise of “All India Pregnant Job Service.” The scam targeted men through social media platforms, offering huge sums of money up to ₹13 lakh to impregnate women who were allegedly unable to conceive. Victims were initially charged a registration fee of ₹799, followed by an additional security deposit ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 depending on the attractiveness of the selected woman. The scheme was a way to extort money from unsuspecting individuals. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested eight individuals connected to the scam in Nawada.

Cybercrime syndicate

Nawada has also emerged as a hub of cybercriminal activities. In December 2023, the police arrested 17 individuals involved in various cyber frauds, including credit card scams and online financial frauds. These arrests were part of a wider crackdown on cybercrime networks active in the region.

Academic fraud

In another shocking incident, the education department found that 86 teachers employed in Nawada had secured their posts using fake certificates. The revelations have prompted a widespread investigation into recruitment processes and the prevalence of fraudulent qualifications within the educational system.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for increased vigilance and stringent measures to tackle fraudulent activities in Nawada and the wider region.
