Kashmir is witnessing heavy snowfall till December 28, 2024, causing widespread disruptions:

Transport:

Air travel: All flights to and from Srinagar airport have been cancelled due to poor visibility and snow accumulation on the runway.

Roadways: The Srinagar-Jammu national highway, a key route connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India, has been closed due to heavy snowfall and landslides.

Ganderbal and Sonamarg have received around 7-8 inches of snowfall.

Nearly 15 inches of snow has accumulated at Zojila pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway. The plains of Anantnag district have received up to 17 inches of snow while the higher reaches have received more than 2 feet of snow. The tourist resort of Pahalgam has recorded fresh snowfall of up to 18 inches.
