Chhapra, a major city in Bihar, has been the center of many important incidents recently. Here we are presenting a brief description of the major news till 31 January 2025:
1. Road accidents and safety:
A truck hit a police vehicle on Gadkha-Manpur Road, injuring a sub-inspector and a policeman. They have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Four people, including a student, were injured in separate road accidents in Mashrakh police station area. All the injured were admitted to Mashrakh Community Health Center, where one of them was referred to Chapra Sadar Hospital due to his critical condition.
2. Crime and law and order:
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed after the incident of robbery and firing at Priyanka Jewelers located in Kolhua Bazar of Sahajitpur police station area. Senior SP Dr. Kumar Ashish inspected the spot and directed action.
Police seized four tractors loaded with illegal sand under Riwilganj police station and also arrested two people.
3. Education and examinations:
District Education Officer (DEO) Vidyanand Thakur has directed that salary cuts and disciplinary action will be taken against teachers who remain absent from duty during the intermediate examination if they do not perform properly.
Intermediate examination will be conducted at 70 examination centers in Saran district, in which 61,686 candidates will appear.
4. Social and cultural activities:
Tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his martyrdom day at Gandhi Ashram in Jalalpur. Political and social workers paid floral tributes to his statue and expressed their feelings.
Republic Day was celebrated with pomp at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, in which Bharat Mata ki Puja and cultural program were organized.
5. Administrative activities:
About 37,000 auction cases are pending in Saran district, involving Rs 533 crore. The District Magistrate held a meeting with the representatives of the banks and stressed the need for active cooperation for speedy execution.
Four new zonal officers have been posted in Saran: Anuj Kumar in Parsa, Jayant Kumar Gautam in Dariyapur, Pankaj Kumar Singh in Taraiya, and Satish Kumar Singh in Isuapar.
6. Health and Welfare:
Under the Chief Minister’s Seven Nischay Part-2, 15 children have been sent to Ahmedabad for heart surgery through Bal Hriday Yojana, which can improve their lives.
A door-to-door medicine distribution campaign will be started from February 10 for filariasis eradication.
7. Politics:
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was given a rousing welcome in Ekma. RJD MLA Srikant Yadav and hundreds of workers garlanded him and welcomed him.
With the efforts of MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, 3-3 decimal land has been allotted to seven landless families of Mahadalit Basti of Sonpur block.
8. Other important news:
Villagers caught a youth trying to steal a gas cylinder and handed him over to the police.
Housing assistant Babulal Prasad of Gadkha block has been relieved from contract on charges of irregularities in the housing scheme.
The newly built podcast studio was inaugurated in Saran Library, which will continue to promote digital education.
During night patrol, a truck hit the vehicle of Gadkha police station, due to which the policemen were injured.
An in-depth discussion was held on road safety in Saran, in which it was discussed to stop illegal construction, sand-gravel storage and movement of animals on NH.
The fourth accused has been arrested from Bengal in the case of cheating of 45 lakhs by digital arrest.
