स्थानीय निवासी गब्बर सिंह और उनके भाई सुरेश सिंह ने त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए आठ लोगों की जान बचाई। गब्बर सिंह ने बताया कि उन्होंने अपने भाई के साथ मिलकर डूबते हुए लोगों को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला।
मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने इस घटना पर गहरा शोक व्यक्त किया है और मृतकों के परिजनों को चार-चार लाख रुपये की अनुग्रह राशि देने की घोषणा की है। उन्होंने लापता लोगों की जल्द से जल्द खोजबीन करने के निर्देश भी दिए हैं।
प्रशासन ने माना है कि बिना अनुमति के नावों का संचालन इस तरह की दुर्घटनाओं का कारण बनता है। जनप्रतिनिधियों और आम जनता से अपील की गई है कि यदि कहीं भी अवैध रूप से नावों का संचालन हो रहा है, तो इसकी सूचना प्रशासन को दें ताकि उचित कार्रवाई की जा सके।
इस घटना से प्रभावित परिवारों में शोक का माहौल है, और प्रशासन ने उन्हें हर संभव सहायता का आश्वासन दिया है।

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed deep condolences over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. He has also given instructions to search for the missing people as soon as possible.
The administration has admitted that operation of boats without permission causes such accidents. An appeal has been made to the public representatives and the general public that if boats are being operated illegally anywhere, then inform the administration so that appropriate action can be taken.
There is an atmosphere of mourning among the families affected by this incident, and the administration has assured them of all possible help.
