प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) ने रेलवे क्लेम घोटाले में बड़ी कार्रवाई करते हुए पटना के तीन वकीलों—विद्यानंद सिंह, परमानंद सिन्हा, और विजय कुमार—को गिरफ्तार किया है। इन पर आरोप है कि इन्होंने रेलवे दावा न्यायाधिकरण, पटना में दायर दुर्घटनावश मृत्यु दावा मामलों में दावेदारों को मिलने वाली मुआवजा राशि का बड़ा हिस्सा हड़प लिया। ईडी की जांच में पता चला है कि इन वकीलों की टीम ने लगभग 900 मामलों का निपटारा किया, जिसमें दावेदारों को लगभग 50 करोड़ रुपये का मुआवजा दिया गया था। हालांकि, दावेदारों की जानकारी के बिना उनके बैंक खाते खोलकर, इन वकीलों ने मुआवजा राशि का बड़ा हिस्सा अपने खातों में स्थानांतरित कर लिया या नकद निकाल लिया।

ईडी ने बुधवार को पटना, नालंदा, और कर्नाटक के मंगलुरु में इन वकीलों से संबंधित चार स्थानों पर छापेमारी की, जिसमें महत्वपूर्ण दस्तावेज और डिजिटल रिकॉर्ड बरामद किए गए। गिरफ्तार वकीलों को विशेष न्यायालय (पीएमएलए) के समक्ष पेश किया गया, जहां से उन्हें न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है।

इस घोटाले में शामिल अन्य व्यक्तियों और संभावित संलिप्तता की जांच जारी है। ईडी ने सीबीआई द्वारा दर्ज प्राथमिकी के आधार पर यह कार्रवाई की है, जिसमें रेलवे दावा न्यायाधिकरण, पटना में दायर, जांच और तय किए गए मृत्यु दावा मामलों में बड़े पैमाने पर अनियमितता और आपराधिकता का आरोप लगाया गया है।

In a major crackdown in the railway claims scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested three Patna-based lawyers—Vidyanand Singh, Parmanand Sinha, and Vijay Kumar—for allegedly embezzling a large portion of the compensation amount meant for claimants in accidental death claim cases filed in the Railway Claims Tribunal, Patna. The ED investigation revealed that the team of these lawyers settled around 900 cases in which claimants were awarded compensation of about Rs 50 crore. However, by opening bank accounts of claimants without their knowledge, these lawyers transferred a large portion of the compensation amount to their accounts or withdrew cash.

The ED on Wednesday conducted raids at four locations related to these lawyers in Patna, Nalanda, and Mangaluru in Karnataka, recovering crucial documents and digital records. The arrested lawyers were produced before the Special Court (PMLA) from where they have been sent to judicial custody.

Investigations are on to ascertain other persons involved in the scam and their possible involvement. The ED has taken this action on the basis of an FIR registered by the CBI, alleging large-scale irregularities and criminality in the death claim cases filed, investigated and decided in the Railway Claims Tribunal, Patna.
